Sallee Figs' Passion For Fig Trees
Monmouth County New Jersey Local Turns His Passion Into NJ's Largest Grower Of Rare Exotic Fig Trees

Picture
Fig Trees are self-fruitful, so you only need to plant one to get several bushels of Fig fruit (syconium).  If you want more than one variety of Fig Tree - and what Fig lover doesn't - space them approximately ten feet apart.  A Fig Tree can grow approximately 30 feet in height and width, or bigger!  They can be grown and kept much smaller in my customized engineered irrigated potting systems; with pruning as desired, if space is an issue.  The most important thing when growing Fig Trees is proper siting.  Fig Trees need full sun to grow strong. Without enough sunlight, they become weak and unhealthy.  Come to Sallee Figs at one of his Monmouth County Fig Tree Farms; we have the most rare and exotic Specimen Fig Trees for sale, in addition to a wide array of additional fruit trees for sale.  You can reach me at 732.741.(FIGS) 3447.

Growing Tips: Fig Trees grow best in Sallee Fig's specialized,  carefully designed and engineered premium mediums. Plant them in the full sun; and if your in a colder prone area, always try to plant your Fig Trees on the south side of your property and residence to provide the best winter protection.  Fig trees thrive at their appropriate ph levels.  When temperatures drop below freezing, wrap and cover your Fig Trees with blankets and plastic coverings, with openings on the top (with a bucket placed over the opening to prevent water and snow to enter) so your Fig Trees can breath; as well as covering the lower section of the main Fig Tree trunk and root ball surface area with thick layers of mulch; this will provide proper winter protection.    You can prune Fig Trees into a bonsai looking Fig Tree or other types of shrubs and plantings.  Fig Trees bear fruit "syconium" in as little as a few years of age.  Plant your Fig Trees far enough away from each other (pending on your desired growth size) to allow for proper spacing and optimal growth.  Water your fig trees throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall; and fertilization is very important for proper Leaf and Fig growth.  Fig Trees yield several bushels of Fig fruit "syconium"; one Fig growth for every Fig leaf that's grown on a Fig Tree.
